Well Pantone announced the Color of the Year yesterday afternoon and boy was I off.

It’s described as:

“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” Eiseman said in the release. “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”

I say if your going to name the color after a food or drink- let’s call it was it really looks like………… Refried Beans

But the good news is that you can create your own interpretation of this color.  I am not a big fan of color trends or really trends in general. I think you should dress and decorate with the colors you love and colors that speak to you.  That being said I have been collecting some inspiration on my Pinterest Board with MY interpretation of Marsala and how I plan on using it in interiors and in my outfits.  And let’s leave the refried beans to our dinners, shall we?

Ha! You’re exactly right. I am not a fan of this color and it really does have food connotations.
